Why is Auto Insurance So Expensive in Southern California?
Southern California auto insurance costs are among the highest in the county, although rates have continued to decline over the past few years. Many factors contribute to the high cost of insurance in sunny Southern California (Orange, Los Angeles, Inglewood, Redondo Beach, Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Rancho Cucamonga, and Ontario). Densely-populated areas with many auto insurance cars see more accidents than rural areas. The higher cost of living in Southern California means higher cost for medical care, auto repairs and litigation. The bottom line is that Southern California has more property damage and bodily injury claim per vehicle than the rest of California (San Francisco, Oakland, Stockton, Modesto and King City). As the number of claims increases, so to does the cost of auto insurance.
